filmmaking in Hull

Hi there, new to the list and just wondering if there are any other filmmakers in Hull or near Hull who want to get involved in a feature project in it's very early stages. Or indeed is there any filmmakers in Hull at all? Any projects going on in the region that need help. Love to hear from other filmmakers, cheers

Hi Kathy,
Im Ashley Turnbull, im 20 years old and have pretty much always had a keen interst in films and other film oriented stuff. Ive got an A level in media studies and theatre studies and am currently studying on an arts foundation course, in the autumn im moving to London to study film and media production at the docklands university.
as far as film history is concerned Ive made commercials for my A level work and I have also made a documentary about a local band, the documentary won awards at the Hull university screen 2000 awards and was also entered for a festival in London, sadly i came away empty handed there though. I am currently working on a short entitled, Love Me Not, its a short documrntary style film about a stalker and his victim, the story is fictional though, I wrote the script and my friend Sheena (the one I mentioned before) and I are basically a two man production team doing directing, cameras and post production ourselves. She has the lead in the film. Im willing to do pretty much most things - camera work, scripting, acting, editing, we also have part time access to a digital editing suite. socially I like most things, music, drinking, music, film and more drinking, we hang out a bit at Spiders in Hull, (dont know if youve been, its a cool place although the musics not as good as it used to be.
Anyway, hope you like my CV, message me back and tell me some stuff about yourself and some stuff about your film idea, maybe we can bounce some ideas off each other.

Spiders....eugh.

I'm an LA's, Fez club and Waterfront towny type. Live in Doncaster and co-located in North Ferriby. Screenwiter in a roundabout way with production and writing credits in my short films.
Currently doing really mad things like scooting off to America to make film links while shagging birds i meet online (sad bastward) but it kinda gets me links with Scorcese as a may well be sitting about one of his movie sets in Boston USA next year.

hey Kathy
your idea sounds really interesting, id like to hear more of your thoughts about it and im definately interested in doing something, ive already had a few ideas about content and shooting. I dont think ive had as much experience as you have practically, but im very keen to learn and hear about what you have done in the buisness.
I can drive and have access to a car so thats no problem, also Im still at a college and can borrow SVHS cameras, there the kind im using for my film at the moment. im not sure about the quality your after though.
Id like to go to this semina, when is it? I think we should meet up in the next couple of weeks, you just name a time and place.

Hi cool another local filmmaker- sounds fab going over to the US. make any good links let us know. just part a lot and network and you should meet some cool people who are hopefully influential.

More of a spiders type myself, still haven't been to fez- must go soon.

HI things are going well with my short, i have most of the cast, some crew and hopefully the equipment. The locations are sorted, some of the props have been brought. The script is looking good. I have somebody keen to do the music. I just really need the main actress and a few crew to do sound and camera. Anybody in the Hull area willing to help? and where has king disappeared to- do you still want to go to the YSC event?

Hi Kathy, sorry I havent been in touch, my Email is playing up so you may already have this message i've been a bit busy, what times the appointment on Tuesday (day//evening)if its in the morning time then theres no problem, afternoon i might be pushing for time if i cant make it over for the appointment I should be able to meet for a drink in the evening and we could discuss it, or if tuesdays inconvienient how about wednesday. Sheenas very keen to play the role of the girl I will get a photo and send it in the next couple of days, shes 19 I imagine if the characters still a school girl then you were thinking about 16, she should be able to play that no problems, how big of a crew were you thinking and what sort of funding are we looking at?
by the way as far as the set goes i had an idea about building a cross section of fence that would allow us to film both sides, it would also give us more room to do stuff with the actual fence, it shouldnt cost to much, maybe about 30 pounds to build the set, my dad can get garden landscaping sort of materials for pretty much free.
